What Valentines Day really means….

love2

Roses brought to your job unexpectedly . Chocolate covered Strawberry’s. Reservations for dinner at that upscale restaurant you can't afford. All these can only mean one thing: Valentine's Day.

Does Valentine's Day always have to be the endless hoopla every single year? And will it leave a lasting impression the next day?

First off, finding love is like finding Jimmy Hoffa. In both cases, it's probably dead before we ever discover it.

In my opinion, you don't have to empty your bank account to show someone how much you love them. Simplest thing always wins a prize in my book.

I remember buying expensive tickets to an All Star Game to Vegas. 10 years later, look where that got me: still single.

Lets take a moment to look at this more intuitively.

Valentine's Day is the ultimate display of love. When you love someone, you open your heart to him or her. You give that person your entire being, you make that connection and look for the deeper meanings instead of just physical justification. The idea of love might sound lame to some but I figured - at our age - a good cliché might do the trick.

Of course, in today's world, nothing says love like those "one-nighters" without so much as a phone call the next day. Or how about those six-day trysts where you get the impression that you're something special only to end up tossed like yesterday's garbage, later replaced by someone who don’t deserve it?

If history has taught us anything; no one is a professional in the dating arena. We're all amateurs in this sport, but sometimes we ask ourselves if love is really worth it.

However, I can tell you one thing: if you're planning something "hot" with your significant other, make it memorable, meaningful and not just a blurry haze the next day.

If you're just going out with friends instead of someone in particular, enjoy the love of having close friends - cause we all know those are few and far in between.

Or you can buy a glass of wine, cognac, or whatever that soothing drink maybe; and watch something emotional Like “Love Jones,” “Hitch,”  or " Superbad" and hope that one Valentine’s day you will get that type of ending along with a proposal…..
